Bollywood - Simone Dhillon A students prespective

The Bradley Stoke Festival on 11th June 2011 saw one our most talented students, Simone Dhillion aged 12 performing a Bollywood dance to “AAJA NACHLE”.
The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the display performed to a very engaged crowd on a sunny day.  Here are some interesting facts about Simone from her parents.

1. When did Simone start learning Bollywood through SGAP?

Simone was 2 years and 9 months when she first started the dance classes with SGAP.

2. What did she like about SGAP classes?

Simone liked meeting her friends on a weekly basis during her dance classes. She also loved the opportunity to perform on stage as part of her dance group. The SGAP annual show was always the finale for her as she was able to construct all the moves which she had learnt over the year; she thoroughly enjoyed performing. Her Bollywood dance classes also helped her with her other forms of dance. Simone’s “modern dance” has particularly been strengthened due to her Bollywood dancing. She also admired her Bollywood teacher which was another incentive for Simone not to miss any classes.

3. What made her want to learn Bollywood and what does she like about it?

Simone really enjoys the expressions to the music which compliment the glamorous and sophisticated movements to the dance that allow her to express herself during her performances. She has enjoys the opportunity to wear the colourful and glamorous clothes. I suppose like any young girl, the accompanying Jewellery and light make-up for her shows has been another favourite aspect for her. She has learnt to appreciate and display her Asian culture with confidence.
