Jitesh Mistry

I was born in Kenya, founded SGAP with Vijay Patel, Pramod Mistry back in 1999 and am now starting my second stint as chair. My wife Vanita and I have lived in Bradley Stoke for 17 of the 21 years we have been married along with our three children who make sure we have a busy family life.
When I’m not busy with my family, with work as an IT consultant, or with SGAP, I’m out playing sports. I used to play five-a-side football until age caught up with me but now you can find me on the golf course trying to bring a handicap of 28 down to 18 in the next 12 months. I’ll let you know if I get there! Sport is one of a range of activities that we plan to run. I hope you’ll take the opportunity to join in and enjoy everything we offer. For whilst I’ve hopefully helped and enriched the lives of our community through SGAP I’ve also made loads of new friends and acquaintances through its activities and trust that you will too.
Kermal Singh

Hi, my name is Kermal Singh, the current General Secretary for SGAP, married with three teenagers.
I got involved with SGAP when I was invited to the Annual Show of 2002 and this inspired me so much I joined the committee in 2003. Eight years on I still find myself on the committee, I can’t stay away!
Over the years I have contributed in many ways to the organization such as by performing bhangra dance in the Annual Show and running Dhol workshops.
Apart from my busy SGAP schedule and full family life, I spend a lot of my time at Esporta Health Club and now that I’m moving into my mid 40s I have taken up the great game of golf inspired by some of my very good friends.
Vijay Patel
“I was a founder member of SGAP and after 5 years as treasurer I stepped out to pursue my passion for dancing. I got addicted to salsa and would stretch myself with various classes and have even danced with world champions.
I developed late as a social animal so I have some catching up to do and I want to bring this new energy to SGAP. Look out for my performances at festivals and on you tube plus special classes in salsa and bhangra fusion.
I would like to hear from anyone with passion improve our social and cultural lives and want to make a difference.”

Kiron Collett
Hi I'm Kiron Collett, I have been married to Dean for 10 years and we have three scrummy kids aged two, three and seven.
After several years of raising children, I have now returned to work and am learning to balance both lives; it’s a tricky job and I admire any mother who does it; any tips would be welcome!
I love horse-riding and going out on girly nights and I’m also enjoying my second year with SGAP. I hope that through hard work we can provide a valuable service to Asians living in South Gloucestershire.
Aman Sood

Hello, I’m Aman Sood, I’m from the Punjab, I work at Oracle and am married to Shuchi (world class cook and dentist!) with whom I have a six year old son.
I recently joined SGAP so I’m excited and looking forward to contributing to its activities for the betterment of life in our community.
Sports, and particularly racket sports, appeal to me and like Jitesh I’ve also gone a little crazy for golf too, playing and practising as much as possible. You could also call me a food and wine freak. There’s nothing I like better than checking out different cuisines and my travels around the world, experiencing many interesting cultures, have fed into the interests. I look forward to sharing all these with you through SGAP and to enjoying the friendship of many.
Manjula Manigandan
I’m Manjula Manigandan, married and mother of two lovely kids. I am a dedicated hospital doctor, trying hard to make a difference in the community!
Enjoy being a Daughter, Sister, Wife, and a Mother. Yet another role, and hoping to contribute to the community through SGAP.
Nandini Bannerjee
Nandini Banerjee is from Calcutta, she has two great teenage children and whilst once a much travelled journalist, she is now settled in this area. After many years of enjoying the fun and friendship that go with being a member of SGAP, I was surprised and pleased to be asked to join the committee. It’s a chance to be able to put something back into the community.
Sachin Singhal
Hello I’m Sachin Singhal, I’m SGAP’s second co-optee member. Six years ago I married Ritu and together we have two kids Alisha aged three and half and Shaan aged one and a half. I come from Delhi and moved to Bristol about 10 years ago where I work with a local telecoms company as the senior network designer.
I joined SGAP because I'm passionate about creating cohesion between various communities living in South Gloucestershire.
Vasumathi Prasad

Hello, I am I’m a co-optee member and have lived in India, the US and now the UK so you could say I’m rather globally aware! My husband, Prasad and I have two wonderful daughters at school and at university.
A graduate of medicine myself, I combine studying for my master’s in Public Health, with caring for my family and with teaching south Indian classical dance and my great passion: Bharatanatyam.
It’s a passion that I would be delighted to share with you for my classes are one of the activities that SGAP will make available to the community. In fact, I’ve enjoyed many SGAP activities and events myself over the years so I’m glad of the chance to contribute plenty to SGAP and the community with my background and experience.
